# Workspaces

1. **Start in your Personal workspace**

Created automatically for every user, exactly one member — yours
   alone.
2. **Switch, if you're in a shared one**

The sidebar header lists every workspace you're a member of; an
admin adds shared ones (see [Admin → Workspaces](/features/admin#workspaces)).
3. **Move a Log, if you need to**

Send it to another workspace you're also a member of, without losing
   its day or content.

Every Log belongs to exactly one workspace. A workspace is either:

- **Personal** — created automatically for every user, exactly one member, nobody else can join it. This is where your own day-to-day logs live.
- **Shared** — created by an admin, with whatever members they choose (see [Admin → Workspaces](/features/admin#workspaces)). Everyone in it sees all of its logs.

## Switching workspaces

The sidebar header is a workspace switcher listing your Personal workspace plus every shared one you've been added to. Switching workspaces changes which day board, logs, tags, tasks, and attachments you're looking at — each workspace's data is completely separate.

## Appearance

Each workspace has a color and an icon, set by an admin, shown in the switcher and throughout the UI:

- **Colors** — eight options: blue, fuchsia, emerald, amber, rose, cyan, violet, orange (`bg-<color>-500`). Users get the same eight colors for their own avatar/initials.
- **Icons** — twenty options covering common workspace shapes: gallery, users, briefcase, building, rocket, code, terminal, database, server, cloud, package, folder, notebook, book, box, lightbulb, target, sparkles, palette, globe.

## Moving a Log between workspaces

A log can be moved to a different workspace you're also a member of without losing its day or content — see [`POST /logs/:logId/move/:targetWorkspaceId`](/api/logs#post-apiworkspacesworkspaceidlogslogidmovetargetworkspaceid). Its attachments move with it.
