# Search

1. **Press Cmd+K**

Anywhere in the app — or click the sidebar's search button — to open
   the command palette.
2. **Search, or switch to commands**

Type text to search logs, tags, and tasks. Type `>` for an actions
   list instead.
3. **Get ranked results fast**

SQLite FTS5 with `bm25` ranking, sub-millisecond across years of
   Logs.

## Search mode

Type text to search across logs, tags, and tasks in the current workspace, ranked with SQLite's `bm25` and grouped by result type in the palette. Log matches come back with a highlighted snippet around the match. See [`GET /api/workspaces/:workspaceId/search`](/api/workspace-data#search) for the endpoint.

## Command mode

Type `>` to switch the same dialog into an actions list: create a new log, jump to today, or toggle light/dark theme.

## Why it's fast

The index is a SQLite FTS5 virtual table using the `unicode61` tokenizer (not the default `ascii` one, which mishandles anything outside plain English), kept in sync with `logs` by triggers. Full-text search across years of logs stays sub-millisecond because it's a local index, not a network round trip.
