# Markdown Editor

1. **Write markdown**

Every Log is edited in [CodeMirror 6](https://codemirror.net/),
Obsidian-style — you're always editing real markdown text, but common
syntax renders as you type instead of staying as raw characters.
2. **Paste to attach**

Paste an image straight from the clipboard and it uploads and inserts
a relative markdown link at the cursor.
3. **Reach for slash commands**

Type `/` for a searchable menu of markdown syntax you don't have to
   type by hand.

## Live preview

Headings render large, links render as links, and fenced code blocks get language-aware syntax highlighting inline, while the cursor stays in a normal text-editing position — there's no separate "preview mode" to switch into.

## Paste to attach

Paste an image straight from the clipboard and it uploads through [the attachments API](/api/workspace-data#attachments) and inserts a relative markdown link (`![](./_files/...)`) at the cursor. See [Attachments](/features/attachments) for where the file actually goes.

## Slash commands

Typing `/` opens a searchable menu for inserting markdown without typing the syntax by hand: task checkboxes, headings (H1–H3), bullet and numbered lists, blockquotes, code blocks, tables, dividers, bold/italic/strikethrough/inline code, links, and the current date or time.
